About

Syntypo is a typing speed test built for developers who write code. Most typing tests give you random dictionary words — fine for general practice, but not representative of what you actually type on the job. Syntypo lets you practice with real code snippets across 9 programming languages, programming quotes, word lists, or your own text.

Why it's different

Everything stays local. There's no server, no account, no signup. All your test results, XP, and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage — they never leave your machine. This means it's fast, it works offline after the first load, and there's zero data privacy risk from the app itself.

If you want to clear your data, visit the History page and hit "Clear all history". That's it.

What you can do

  • Type code snippets in JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, Rust, Go, C, C++, Java, and Ruby
  • Read and type famous programming quotes
  • Type random words or paste your own text
  • Set a time limit (15s, 30s, 60s, 120s, or no limit)
  • Filter by difficulty (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  • Track your progress with WPM charts, accuracy, consistency, and XP
  • Use dark or light mode
  • Share your results as a formatted share card

Privacy

Your data is yours. See the privacy policy for the full breakdown — tl;dr: no accounts, no servers, no data collection by the app itself.
